All the land and the sea between the two amaHlongwa Rivers within the e'Thekwini Municipality; the boundary of which stretches inland to the edge of the farmland beyond the N2 freeway.

This covers an area of about 2190ha, and the value of the goods and services provided by our natural resources within this area have recently been estimated at over forty million Rand per annum!

Because it's the right thing to do. We stand for quality of life. We stand for a life in partnership with our environment - not in opposition to it. We cannot watch silently as our natural resources disappear, as the sea is emptied of its riches, our wildlife vanishes, and our green, open spaces turn to concrete and roads. What we do at Clansthal is what we do for life on this earth. To maintain and increase biodiversity - that means more fish and marine life; more birds, butterflies, mammals, etc; more indigenous trees, grasses and flowering plants; and fewer invasive alien species. 

The lack of adequate biodiversity in the area will ensure the inevitable collapse of the remaining natural environment that we have left - less wildlife, natural vegetation and our gardens and forests dominated by invasive alien species, or worse - a barren polluted wasteland and a seashore devoid of life!

There will be development for developments sake, with an influx of people resulting in an increase in pollution - light, noise, traffic, sewerage run-off onto the beaches, rainwater run off associated with hardened areas and a complete change in what is currently Clansthal's 'sense of place'.
